Katherine brings over 20 years of expertise advising clients at the start-up through middle market stage on originating, structuring and executing debt. Expert at all things financial, she has placed over $5 billion of debt financings. Ms. Brand was a Managing Director at Monroe Credit Advisors, a middle market investment banking and credit advisory firm. While at Monroe she utilized her vast knowledge of credit structures to assist clients in securing the optimal financing structure for their company. As a lender, she has managed borrowing relationships of all sizes and credit classifications, from highly structured asset based transactions, through unsecured investment grade deals for companies in the Unites States and abroad.
Prior to joining Monroe Credit Advisors she served as a Senior Vice President at Bank of America in the Transportation Finance Group, where she managed an $800 million portfolio of companies focused in the air, trucking, maritime, and rail segments. At Bank of America she was responsible for all aspects of the lending relationship including deal origination, structuring, underwriting, documentation, and portfolio management. While at Bank of America, she was selected to manage her divisions’ most sensitive and high profile bank relationships, requiring frequent interaction with their executive management and board.
A natural collaborator, Katherine became a trusted advisor to both clients and internal colleagues alike, and is often the “first call” for advice from both. As a result, she has a depth of experience in providing strategic advice to Boards, CEO’s, CFO’s, entrepreneurs and business owners regarding funding, debt and financing alternatives and strategic operational improvements. Passionately client-centric, she continually utilizes her vast knowledge of capital structures and extensive network of relationships to ensure her clients secure the optimal financing solution.
Katherine is an experienced coach and mentor, who has two decades of experience overseeing and developing junior staff both in core job functionality, progression planning, and innovative thinking. She has been recognized for fostering an environment that supports diverse work teams, and for her leadership ability in taking disparate individuals and molding them into effective and contributing teams.
Continually seeking improvements in both process, profitability and client satisfaction, she has spearheaded projects to improve productivity, led initiatives to support industry specialization and implemented creative solutions to increase customer retention and profitability. She has extensive experience identifying client issues and priorities and providing mutually beneficial solutions.
Ms. Brand is also an expert in research and analysis, who has written many white papers and portfolio reports. She is known for her thoughtful analysis, insight into market dynamics and outstanding risk management skills.
Ms. Brand earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from Boston University, and her Master’s in International Management from Thunderbird School of Global Management.

Known for her exceptional ability to identify and develop top talent, she has a passion for starting and growing businesses Most recently, Cecilia was co- founder and President of Smart Destinations; a technology based ticketing and marketing solution for attractions, named by INC Magazine as one of the fastest growing private companies in America for 5 consecutive years. She is holder of multiple patents.
In 2005, the Boston Business Journal named Cecilia one of Boston’s top 40 executives under 40. She is an experienced public speaker, and recognized thought leader in her industry and has served on a number of professional boards including the Ataway Exchange and the US Travel Association’s National Council of Attractions. Cecilia has spoken at a number of conferences across the US such as the E Tourism Summit, Eye for Travel, One Travel Conference, The Ernst & Young Strategic Growth Forum, and Shop America Alliance. She has also been a guest lecturer on entrepreneurship at such schools as Bentley University and New York University.
Cecilia is a seasoned coach, long term mentor both one on one with individual entrepreneurs and through volunteering with such organizations as NFTE (Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship), where she served on the New England Advisory Board. She was also an advisor and founding member of NextGen Leaders, a women’s leadership development mentorship program for the travel industry.
